But do you know what these are? We explain it to you.

What is a high-altitude port?
Thanks to its geographical location, Mexico has 102 ports around its entire territory!
Among them, the high-altitude stand out, being that of Progreso one of its best examples.
First of all, it is worth mentioning that The Ministry of Communications and Transportation of Mexico defines “high” as:
Term related to the high seas. When serving vessels, people and goods in navigation between national ports, terminals or marine with foreign ports. Maritime traffic cargo and people between ports of different countries.
Now,taking this into account, we can say high that-altitude ports are those that meet the necessary conditions to receive deep-draft ships.
In others words, they are the ones that can receive large amounts of cargo thanks to their deep.
The foregoing is what differentiates them from cabotage, which is more focused on the maritime.
In fact, it´s name comes from the french “cabot” which means to navigate from end to end.
Heigh Port Characteristics
Some of the characteristics that distinguish this type of ports are:

.In some cases they also give attention to cabotage vessels.

However, it is important to remember that these are only some of its characteristics.
